Maggie Needham Jerden (1924-2012)


POTTSBORO - Funeral services for Maggie Lee Needham Jerden will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at in the Coleman City Cemetery. Rev. Don Harmes will officiate with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Jerden, 87, passed away Tuesday, February 28 at the Homestead of Denison.

Maggie was born March 9, 1924 in Dallas to the late Thomas and Hannah (Berry) Pace. She was raised in Dallas, but spent most of her adult life in Coleman, Texas. She moved back to Dallas and then finally moved to Pottsboro where spent the last 24 years living near Lake Texoma. All of her life, Maggie had a passion for music, singing, and dancing. She was a self-taught musician and could play the guitar by the age of five. She enjoyed sharing her musical talents with others and taught line dancing at the Denison Senior Citizens Center for several years. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening, always taking great pride in her yard. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Mrs. Jerden will be remembered by her family as a devoted mother and homemaker and is survived two daughters, Annitta Ridgeway and husband Mike and Joyce Anne Rice, both of Pottsboro; one son, Tom Needham and wife Bing of Pottsboro; seven grandchildren, Debbie Needham of Plano, Valory Hall of Flower Mound, Melissa Gunter Ahlstrom of Plano, Alan Rice of White Settlement, Flint Rice of Haslett, Carrie Miller of Portland, Ore., and John Needham of Dallas; sister, Billie Thomas of Rockwall; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; two husbands, Miller Needham and Vense Jerden; one son, Eddie Needham II; and one great grandchild, Mason Gunter.

The family will receive friends from 1 -3 p.m. Saturday at Waldo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Denison Senior Citizens (Snap) Center at 531 W. Chestnut, Denison, TX 75020. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
