CHATSWORTH -- Vern J. Kurtenbach, 75, a resident of Greenbrier Lodge in Piper City [Ill.] for the past 11 months, and formerly of Chatsworth and Peotone, died at 2:30 p.m. yesterday (Monday, Mar. 31, 1986), at the lodge.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, Chatsworth, the Rev. Charles E. Karl officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chatsworth.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Culkin-Diggle Funeral Home, Chatsworth. The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. by the Altar and Rosary Society and at 8 p.m. by the general parish.
He was born Aug. 5, 1910, at Chatsworth, a son of Owen and Margaret Carney Kurtenbach. He married Gertrude Albee on Saturday, June 8, 1940, at Chatsworth. She died on Oct. 25, 1973.
Survivors include one son, William Dean, Momence; two brothers, Floyd and Clarence, both of Chatsworth; and two sisters, Catherine Kurtenbach and Rita Kurtenbach, both of Chatsworth.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, Chatsworth, and the Chatsworth Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Kurtenbach attended Chatsworth schools and farmed in the Chatsworth area until 1959, when he and his wife moved to Peotone. In 1979 he retired and moved back to Chatsworth.
