Our lovely mother, Clara Loretta Allison, of Mukilteo , WA, passed away peacefully, on November 15, 2007, at the age of 86 after bravely fighting a three year battle with ovarian cancer.Clara was born in Collyer, Kansas, on Jan 16, 1921.

She left the farm at the age of 16 and boarded a bus to Corvallis, Oregon. While working as a soda jerk at a fountain shop, she met Bill, a handsome engineering student at Oregon State University.

They were married on October 7, 1941, in Corvallis, OR. Shortly after, Bill joined the army and their 24 year journey in the military began. Bill and Clara lived all over the world including Germany, Japan, Philippines and all across the United States. During this time they raised seven children. They moved 37 times, until Bill retired from the Army in 1964, and they settled in Santa Ana, CA.

Adventure called again in 1971 when Bill was offered a job for the state of Alaska. They lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 17 years. There, Clara was extremely involved in St. Benedict's Catholic Church, devoting much of her time to the altar society. She was known as the "flower lady" at the church, making sure that there was always a beautiful arrangement at the altar every Sunday. She also created wonderful quilts and crafts to raise money for the church. After Bill retired from the state of Alaska, they made their home in Mukilteo, WA. Again Clara devoted her time and energy to the church and continued creating beautiful flower arrangements Clara had such a creative spirit. She loved to sew, often making clothes for her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful shopper and could never pass up a great bargain. She loved a good game of bridge and was involved in many bridge groups over the years. She also loved playing Scrabble with her grandson.

Clara loved people. If you sat down next to her on a bus, she'd know your whole life story in a matter of minutes. She had the gift of gab and a beautiful smile. More than anything, she loved her family and spent her life creating a warm and loving home for all. She was always saying "I have the greatest family in the whole world." She will be missed by so many people.

Clara is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Allison; five sons, Don (Olga), David, Jerry (Cecille), Richard (Laqueta), Andrew (Christi); two daughters, Judy Fraley (Joe) and Susan Patten (Jim); 14 grandchildren (Scot, Allison, Raymond, Bob, Calla, Alan, Aaron, Katie, Joe, Caitlyn, Hannah, Morgan, Jackson, and Ava; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Caroline and Isabella. She also leaves a sister, Nita Johnson; and a brother, Ben Weisgerber.
