Bill was a long-time resident of Mukilteo, and served 13 years as a commissioner on the city's water district. He was happiest on his boat out in the sound catching crabs and back home eating crabs!
While at Oregon State University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Bill met his lovely wife, Clara. Bill and Clara were married for 66 years and had 7 children.
Bill served in the US Army through World War II and the Korean War. The family was stationed in Okinawa and Germany as well as all over the U.S. After 23 years of service, Bill retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1964 and then went to work as a consulting civil engineer in Southern California for seven years. He then moved the family to Alaska where he worked as an airport engineer for the State, building small airports across western Alaska. He retired at the age of 65 and he and Clara moved to Mukilteo in 1988.
Bill enjoyed golfing, boating, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, reading, eating at Ivor's and cruising to Costco in his beloved Lexus. He had a dry sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye and a very sweet smile. He will be truly missed.
Bill is survived by seven children: Don (Olga) of Las Vegas, NV; Judy Fraley (Joe) of Duarte, CA; David of Kauai, HI; Jerry (Cecille) of Aptos, CA; Richard (Laqueta) of Mukilteo; Susan Patten (Jim) of Lake Stevens; and Andrew (Christi) of Kirkland. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and 3 brothers.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife Clara and his brother Jack.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Clare Bridge at Silver Lake for taking such great care of our Dad these past few months.
