She was born in Sullivan Sept. 4, 1903, to Homer and Bertha (Palmer) Terrell. She retired from Indiana University in Nov. of 1963. In addition to working at I.U., she had worked for Home Laundry for a number of years. She was a member of the 16th St. Pentecostal church. Arda and General were married in 1922.
She leaves her husband, General W. Butcher; her mother and the following children:

Clifford; a sister, Mrs Irene Wilford; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sisters, Vesta and Frances, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the 16th St. Pentecostal church, and were officiated by Rev. Kirby Tiller and Rev. Stanley Russell.
