Eleanor Mae (Webster) Abbott, of Braintree, 99 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the Tremont Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Wareham on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 after a long illness. She was born in Bridgewater, MA on May 22, 1912. She studied to be a Medical Secretary at Catherine Gibbs School in Boston. She had been a medical secretary for F. Gorham Brigham, M.D. and William Stevens, M.D. both in Boston. Eleanor had been a longtime resident of Braintree. She was a member of the Braintree Historical Society where she had participated as a volunteer in the school program for thirty five years. She had been an active member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Braintree since 1950. She is believed to be the oldest living member of the church. She was the wife of the late Everett M. Abbott who died in 1998. She was the devoted mother of Eleanor Gail White married to William White of Raynham. She was the loving grandmother of Amanda Gail White of Portland, Oregon and Daniel W. White and his wife Erin and their son Braydon who also reside in Portland, Oregon. There will be a visiting hour at the Mortimer N. Peck | Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Friday, March 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Judith Krumme former rector of Emmanuel Parish will officiate. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be at a later date at Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton. Memorial donations may be sent to the Braintree Historical Society, 31 Tenney Road, Braintree, MA 02184.
