1935 - 2012
Ronald G. "Ron" Deschamps, 76, of Huson, Montana, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, after a long illness. Ron was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Frenchtown, Montana, to Oscar and Pearl (Edwards) Deschamps. He attended Alberton schools, graduating in 1956. He excelled in football, basketball and track.
After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a sack field mechanic. He was stationed in Texas and Bermuda. After four years of service, he was honorably discharged as an A/2C. Ron married Mary Hendricks-Erlandson in 1960 and had two children, Katherine and Paul. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with his hands. He spent many pleasurable years on his property in Six Mile. Ron worked 40 years as a millwright. He was forced into early retirement in 1998 from the Champion lumber mill in Bonner because of an injury.
Ron is survived by his two children, Katherine (James) Bush of West Riverside and Paul Deschamps of Huson; adopted daughter Gina Deschamps of Missoula; sister Nora (Mort) Kimball of Yelm, Wash.; granddaughters Amanda (Levi) Castonguay and Megan Bush of Missoula, Mariah and Macey Deschamps of Bonney Lake, Wash., and Katherine Deschamps of Frenchtown; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. A reception will follow the Mass in Reidy Hall. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Annex (new).
