She was born December 28, 1917 in Fairview, Ohio, daughter of the late Lewis Carpenter and Martha Powell Carpenter.
Hazel was known as a hard worker and great cook. She had worked as a Nurse's Aid at Barnesville Hospital. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a friend to all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ernest Hannahs; daughter, Earlena Hannahs; son, Joseph Allen Hannahs, five brothers; and four sisters.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Donna Y. Moore of Barnesville, N. Jean Easton of Tipp City, Ohio, and Betsy L. (John) Smith of Proctorville, Ohio; sons, Gary L. (Judith Ann) Hannahs, Lester L. Hannahs, and Dale R. (Beverly) Hannahs, all of Barnesville; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joyce Hannahs; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Carpenter.
Family and friends were received Tuesday, February 28, 2012 until the time of service at Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral Home, 702 E. Main St., Barnesville. Pastor Richard Cox officiating.
Interment followed at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, Ohio.
