Genevieve Smith, 73, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died on Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998 at the House of the Dove Hospice Care in Marshfield.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, with Pastor Jed Watson of the United Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in the City of Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Eddie Potocnik, Jerry Prepeluh, Harold Parker, Dan Fredrick, Neil Vater and Ray Venet. Visitation was at the Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, on Monday.
The former Genevieve Ehlert was born June 29, 1925 in Loyal, the daughter of Albert and Bernice (Thwing) Ehlert. She was a 1943 graduate of Loyal High School. Genevieve and Fred Smith were united in marriage on Oct. 21, 1950, in Marshfield. A homemaker, she also worked as a waitress and sales clerk in Owen until her retirement in 1989.
