Daniel "Blanc" Angelle, Jr. LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at a 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Daniel "Blanc" Angelle, Jr., 89, who died on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Irene Webb Angelle of Lafayette; four daughters, Jacqueline Angelle of Lafayette, Sue Ann Angelle of Lafayette, Lorita Angelle Menard and her husband Boo of Breaux Bridge and Theresa Angelle Mire and her husband Gary of Broussard; one son, Daniel Angelle, III of Lafayette; fourteen grandchildren, Pam W. Begnaud, Cody Whittington, Misti W. Darby, Shannon Quebedeau, Shantelle Menard, Shamra Geoffroy, Sharelle Menard, Sharee Thomassee, Lisa Picard, Deannie Buckwalter, Ben Trahan, Gary Mire, Jr., Tyler Mire and Dustin Angelle; nineteen great grandchildren, Hunter Begnaud, Jaden Begnaud, Anais "Tante Ani" Begnaud, Wyatt Darby, Noah Darby, Konner Melancon, Kobi Becker, Caroline Quebedeau, Zachary Picard, Lyndsey Picard, Mallory Picard, Alex Clavelle, Adam Clavelle, Sara Trahan, Kaylee Mire, Ainsley Mire and Collin Jude Angelle; five step-great grandchildren, Taylor Quebedeau, Conlan Quebedeau, Karli Buckwalter, Allie Buckwalter and Callie Dupuy; three great great grandchildren, Bailey Begnaud and twins, Brennan and Adelyn Trahan; and step-great great grandchild, Mason Melancon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Angelle, Sr. and Theresa Guidry Angelle; four sisters, Bernice Fisette, Lema Degeyter, Vivian Simon and Aline Breaux; and two brothers, Clifton Angelle and Joseph C. Angelle.

Mr. Angelle was a native of Cecilia, and after surviving the 1927 flood, his family moved to Lafayette. He was retired from the City of Lafayette, was the owner and operator of Blanc's Food Center and delivered the Daily Advertiser Newspaper. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during World War II, 82nd Airborne in the European Theater and went over seas on the Queen Elizabeth, II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Judice, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and the CCC Camp. He was a guild member of the Monastery of Mary Mother of Grace since 1960 and a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, where he served as a money counter and a Lay Minister of Communion. He loved volunteering, including visiting with the elderly and sick in the nursing homes and riding in Mardi Gras Parades. "Blanc" Angelle will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all that knew and loved him.
