Graduate of Sacramento High School, University of California at Berkeley (BA) and the University of Hawaii (MA). As a teacher she was known for starting the kindergarten program in the Arden Carmichael School District in Sacramento, and a series of outdoor education programs along the American River. These nature walks developed eventually into the Nature Center at Ancil Hoffman Park.The nature center was later named in her honor. She traveled extensively around Sacramento county planting oak trees. C0-founder of the Save the American River Association (SARA) in Sacramento County.
