Funeral Notice: a native of Missouri; aged 76 years, 1 month, and 26 days; buried 2/7/1908.

Folsom Telegraph, 2/22/1908: "Shingle Springs News." Mrs. J. Burdis and Mr. Will Harvey attended the funeral of Damascus Bennett, which took place at El Dorado a short time ago, Mr. Bennett having been an old resident of this vicinity. Deceased had been paralyzied for five or six years previous to his death. He leaves a brother, Joseph Bennett, who resided with him; also other relatives in an Eastern state.

In 1860, D. Bennett and brother were enumerated at El Dorado, Mud Springs Township, El Dorado County, where they were mining. Mr. Bennett was a miner and resident of El Dorado in the 1866 El Dorado County Great Register of Voters and lived "near El Dorado" in the 1867 El Dorado County Great Register of Voters. On the 1870 Census, he was residing at Shingle Springs with his brother, Joseph W. Bennett. The 1880 census has the brothers residing in Mud Springs Township where they continued to work as miners.
