Sgt. William Lockett of Provencal, 19 years old and four other member of the B-26 crew were killed on Friday Nov 13, near New Bern, North Carolina, when his army plane crashed
The son of the late Mr & Mrs Dave Lockett. Sgt Lockett was with the 455 bomb Squadron 232 Bomb Group, He was stationed at Myrtle Beach,South Carolina.Sgt Lockett voluntered for service on Dec 6 the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor & made a good soldier, For some time before he volunteered he made his home with the Mr Arnold Bates family of Provencal & his remains were brought to the home of his foster parents on Wednesday night. His funeral was held from there on Thursday Morning at 10:30 with services at the Provencal Baptist Church. Interment at the Provencal Cemetery under direction of Blanchard Funeral Home.
