Born Marie Catherine Cope in Hodges, Jones County Texas, the daughter of Wiley Lafayette Cope and Josephine Rebecca Sprawls, she was the last child of six children all with initials M.C. They were Mary, Myrtie, Mae, Mart, Mildred and Marie Cope. In 1921, Marie married Charles Cunningham Bracken in Abilene, Taylor Co. Texas. They had three children, Jerry 1923, Jean 1925 and Joe Bracken 1935. After her divorce from Charles, Marie moved to Los Angeles, California to be near her adult children, where she died at age 81.
