CANADIAN — Kathryn Kent, 95, of Canadian, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dinzel Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian.

Kathryn was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Foster, Okla., to the late Mr. George Cockrell and Mrs. Lula Mae Land Cockrell. She attended schools in Oklahoma. She moved to Hemphill County in the 1930s from Oklahoma. She married Tom Kent in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Kathryn worked for five years at the Hemphill County Hospital. She then went to work for the Edward Abraham Memorial Home for the next 30 years and for six of those years, she was the activity director until retiring in 1994. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carroll Gene Babitzke and 13 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a brother, Bobby "Pig" Cockrell and wife Audrey of Canadian; four grandchildren, Jimmy Jones of Canadian; Tamara Jones of Fort Supply, Okla., Angelia Marques of Dumas and Tonya Smith of Clinton, Okla.; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. Fourth St., Canadian, TX 79014.
