Maxine Clark
Hannah "Maxine" Clark, 87, of Chetopa, died at 12:48 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.
She was born March 29, 1924, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to Ottie and Sarah (Rupe) Gardner.
As a young girl she attended first through seventh grades at White Eagle, south of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and eighth grade at Prairie Center. She was a graduate of Welch High School.
Through the years she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons prior to opening Maxine's Beauty Salon in Chetopa where she was owner and operator nearly 50 years.
She attended the First Christian Church in Chetopa and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed crocheting and collecting hummingbirds.
On December 27, 1942 she married Chester Clark. He preceded her in death April 15, 2005.
Survivors include: One Son - Chester Clark, Jr. Oswego, KS One Daughter – Joan Allen and husband, Larry Chetopa, KS Seven Grandchildren Numerous Great and Great-Great-Grandchildren One Sister – Eula Lichti S. Coffeyville, OK
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2012, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m., Friday, at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Disease Association. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
