MONROE – Cecil Weir, 66, died Thursday evening, May 27, in the Green County Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Coffeen, Illinois, May 3, 1905, a son of Lemuel Oscar and Daisy Pearl Barber Weir. He had worked at the Pet Milk plant in New Glarus at one time and formerly resided in Monroe.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Daisy Crumpton, now of Muscoda; two daughters, Mrs. Erling Erickson, New Glarus and Mrs. William H. Newman, Madison; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Schmitt, New Glarus, Mrs. Gail Toney, Sextonville, and Mrs. J.M. McNeil, Kissimmee, Florida; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Neva Argue, Monroe, March 28, 1970, and two brothers, Vivian and Everett, in infancy. His father died March 22, 1951 at Blue River.

Services for Mr. Weir will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 30, in the Zentner Funeral home in New Glarus. Reverend Linus Wierwill of the Swiss United Church of Christ of New Glarus is to officiate. Burial will be in the Swiss Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. tomorrow.
