Funeral services were held Saturday, August 26, at St. Simon and Jude church in this city for Mrs. Michael Doyle, 79, who died August 22 in a hospital at Moose Lake, MN.

Johanna Dempsey was born in 1871 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of John and Helen Dempsey, one of a family 3 brothers and 5 sisters. As a child Johanna came to Flandreau when her parents homesteaded a farm west of Flandreau. She received her education in the Flandreau schools, grew to womanhood in this community, and it was here that she met Michael Doyle, to whom she was married December 22, 1890. The couple continue residence on the farm near here until 1911 when they moved to Volga to make their home for 4 years. Later they moved to Bovey, MN, to spend the rest of their lives.

To this union were born 13 children, of who 2 preceded her in death, Elizabeth and Florence.
