Rose (Demko) Mixter was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the sixth of nine children born to Andrew and Anna (Konrady) Demko. She was baptised Catholic as was all of her family. She worked in a box factory until her marriage to Madison "Clark" Mixter, May 12, 1920.

Rose was a shy woman, but was pleasant and cordial to everyone she met. She was very close to her sisters and their families. Rose and her husband had one child, a son, Andrew Clark Mixter. They had three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rose was a healthy woman until she contracted Parkinson's disease late in life. She suffered from that illness for many years. In July of 1971 she fell out of her bed and broke a hip. She died about a week later from complications of the broken hip and Parkinson's disease.
