His discharge was Honorable.
After returning home in 1945, he built a house next to his parents, and there raised 7 children. He was a home builder, and with a friend named Robert, started the company Amro Builders.
He died from Lung Cancer on March 4, 1982 at the age of 63 at the Veterans Hospital in Augusta. The family lived on Milledgeville Road in Augusta.
