Dorothy Luhrsen was the fifth of nine children of Gus and Minnie Bruegger Luhrsen. She was born in St. Louis on May 1, 1922. She was a lifelong LCMS Lutheran and a travel enthusiast. She married Neal Russo of Farrell, PA, and she had four children, several grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Dorothy passed away on May 24, 2008 and is buried at Bethlehem Cemetery.


Obituary from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Suburban Journals, May 30, 2008:

Dorothy W. Russo, 86, of Tebbetts and formerly of Wentzville died May 24, 2008, at home. She was born May 1, 1922, to Gustav A. and Minnie (Brugger) Luhrsen in St. Louis.

Mrs. Russo was a retired greeter at K-Mart in O'Fallon.

She is survived by two sons, W. Peter of Montgomery, Texas, and Neal of Tebbetts; two daughters, Angela Kreienheder of Vandalia, Ill., and Vicki Huff of Foristell; one brother, Donald Luhrsen of Mission, Texas; two sisters, Blossom Nelson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dolorose McNiff of St. Peters; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gus and Leonard Luhrsen; and three sisters, Edna Luhrsen, Katherine Weidner and Rosemarie Lawson.

Services were May 28 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wentzville with burial in New Bethlehem Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorials may be to Easter Seals Adult Day Services of Jefferson City c/o Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.
