Mrs. Emily Swift
Northampton, May 20 - Mrs. Emily (Aldrich) Swift, 74, widow of Leslie W. Swift of 26 Langworthy St., died this afternoon in Phillips House at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Granby on Oct. 1 1882, daughter of Elliott and Ellen (Moody) Aldrich, she had been a resident of Northampton 13 years. She was a graduate of the Granby schools, and also attended Wilbraham Academy and the Boston Art School. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Northampton Woman’s Club and the Dorcas Society of the First Church.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Roger Clapp of Manchester, Conn.; a brother, Albert, of Granby; a sister Mrs. Grace A Miller of West Springfield, and three grandchildren. Funeral will be in the R.D. Newell & Son funeral home Thursday at 2 with organ prelude at 1.30. Burial will be in Bridge St. Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
