Robert 'Bob' R. Thompson, 64, of Freedom, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, September 24, 2011 at Meadville Medical Center ER with his wife at his side. Born May 5, 1947 in Providence, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Merrill and Mary Asels Thompson and had been a resident of Freedom the past 18 years. He retired from Littell Steel, Fallston, in May of 2011 as a fabricator after 22 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam War and was a member of Unionville United Methodist Church. He loved to ride his Harley and belonged to Beaver County Chapter of H.O.G., and was also a member of the Beaver County Model Airplane Club. He loved to camp and owned a site in Brookdale, PA, the past six years, where he enjoyed fishing. He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife, Diane Hoover Thompson; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Dawn Hanshaw Thompson, Brighton Township; four stepchildren, Jamie (Rus) Ciuvevich, Georgia; Christina Jones, Monaca; Tara Kraus, Freedom, and William (Michele) Kovach, Texas; two brothers, Don Thompson, Massachusetts, and Paul Thompson, New Hampshire; two sisters, Joan (Paul) Eldakin, and Jean (Henry) Socco, Rhode Island; three grandchildren, Timothy, Aliquippa, and Christopher and Grace, Brighton Township, and 10 step-grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his parents was his first wife, Charlotte Thompson in 2008.
