Memorial services for Clara Welborn Barron, 71, of Tyler, are scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 20, at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.

Mrs. Barron died on Dec. 16, 2009, after a brief illness. She is survived by Kenneth R. Barron of Tyler, her husband of nearly 51 years; two children, daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Larry Park of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, David and Paula Barron of Durango, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Kenneth Michael Park of Austin, Kevin Lee Park of Austin, Elizabeth Rae Barron of Durango and Tabitha Lacy Clare Barron of Durango.

Also surviving are her sister, Mickey Welborn Vineyard and husband Don Vineyard of Blanchard, La.; two brothers, Bill Welborn and wife Jean Welborn of Terrell, and Don Barton Jr. and wife Jan of Key West, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and a wide, wonderful circle of friends who loved her and were loved in return.

A special friend, Margaret Barron Hayes of Tyler, is the cousin of her husband who brought Clara and Kenneth together those many years ago.

Predeceasing Mrs. Barron were her parents; one son and daughter in law, Stephen Wayne Barron and Carla Toner Barron.

Mrs. Barron was a homemaker, licensed real estate agent, secretary and retail store manager. She graduated from Tyler Commercial College and completed two years of classes at Tyler Junior College. She served as a piano player for children's Sunday school classes at Marvin United Methodist Church where she was a member for more than 47 years, president of the Tyler Jayceettes, and devoted many years of service to worthwhile causes along with her husband, including being Potentates Lady of Sharon Shrine Temple in 1984.

Clara was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her laughter brought joy to all and her sense of humor is legendary. She enjoyed reading, cooking, visiting with family and friends and traveling throughout the United States and other countries.

Contributions in her memory to The Shriners Hospitals for Crippled and Burned Children in care of Sharon Shrine Temple, Tyler, The Arthritis Foundation of North Texas, 2824 Swiss Ave., Dallas, 75204, or a charity of your choice will be appreciated.

Her family invites all to join them for Sunday's memorial service.
