Samuel H. Fox, 81, Former Police Officer Dies
Samuel Head Fox, 81, of North Third street, a former desk sergeant in the Danville Police Department and a retired merchants died at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday night at Ann's Rest Home, 243 East Walnut street, Louisville, where he had lived the past year. He had been ill for the last 19 months.
Born July 1, 1874, in Danville, Mr. Fox had lived here his entire life until he entered the rest home 13 months ago. He was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Samuel R. Vanover, Louisville, and Mrs. Cloyd C. Fox, Statesville, N. C; a sister, Mrs. George Ann Thompson, Charlotte, N. C, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at Stith funeral home, with the Rev. Walter K. Price, pastor, First Baptist Church of Danville, officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.
Pallbearers will be E. W. Cook Jr., Judge Samuel R. Check Jr.,1 Henry L. Nichols, B. Y. Hamilton, Chief of Police Tom Clark and Clay Spoonamore
