JOHN THOS, EASON ONCE COUNCILMAN, CLAIMED BY DEATH
John Thomas Eason 89, of 139 Maple Avenue, a former Danville City Councilman for several years, died about 4:15 o’clock Sunday morning at his home, after having been seriously ill for about six months,
Mr. Eason was born Dec. 5, 1865, in Lancaster and moved to Danville soon after his marriage. He and his wife celebrated the 61st anniversary of their marriage on Sept. 9 last.
Mr. Eason was a former railway mail clerk and had retired in 1932. He was a member of the Railway Mail Clerks Association and of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church here and Its Holy Name Society.
In recognition of Mr. Eason’s long service as a city councilman and in tribute ti the duties he performed, the flag at the Danville City Hall will fly at half mast until after the funeral services here on Tuesday, Mayer W. Terry Griffin reported this morning.
In addition to his wife, Mrs. Delia Connelly Eason, Mr Eason is survived by three daughters, Miss Elisabeth Easonm Danville; Mrs. Fred J KAllmeyer, Covington, and Mrs. Pope W. Underwood, Richmond Virginia; six grandchildred and eight great-grand-children: a nephew, J. W. Hensley, of Danville, whom the Easons reared, and one great-niece and one great-nephew.
