Dr. George Dougleas Rouse retired dentist who resided at the Argyle Hotel died yesterday in a local infirmary at the age of 78.
Funeral services will take place in Grace Protestant Episcopal Church tomorrow afternoon.Complete arrangements will be announced later by McAllister's.
Dr. Rouse was born in Charleston, a son of George W. Rouse and Mrs. Cardelia [sic] Reeves Rouse both of this city. He attended private schools in Charleston and Asheville, the University of Maryland and the University of Tennessee from which he received degree in dental surgery.
Dr. Rouse was active in military and fraternal activities. He was in the national guard for more than 40 years and was a major in the army dental reserve corps. A former member of the dental assocation he was a life member of Marion Lodge 146 Odd Fellows. Other memberships included Charleston Chapter 28 of the National Sojourners and the Reserve Officers Assocation.
His wife who died a number of years ago was Mrs. Susan Dexter Shokey Rouse. He was a member of Grace Church.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs. C. H. Shroder of Charleston and Mrs. C. O. Carson of Jacksonville; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.
