CLARENCE EARNEST SR.
Clarence R. Earnest Sr., 87, of Freeport Street, Delmont, died Thursday, May 28, 1981, in Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Born Feb. 20, 1894, in Delmont, son of the late Simon P. and Elizabeth C. Earnest, he was a former postmaster of Delmont. He was a veteran of World War I; of World War I Veterans Jeannete Barracks 1880, Salem Lutheran Church of Delmont, charter member of Delmont Volunteer Fire Department and the J. R. Ewing American Legion Post 247 in Delmont. His wife, Bertha Smeltzer Earnest, died in 1945, and a son, William R., in 1943. Surviving are three sons: Clarence R. Jr. of Delmont, Simon E. of Fremont, Calif., and James W. of Greensburg RD 3; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy J. Kemerer of Luxor; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen E. of Delmont. Friends will be received at the Lysle P. Bash Funeral Home, Delmont, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. John W. Hanks. Interment will be in Eastview Union Cemetery, Delmont.
