Vierma I. "Bobby" Bloom, 87, of Connellsville has gone to her rest with
our Lord on Mon., Feb. 1, 1999, while in the Frick Hospital, Mount
Pleasant. She was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Confluence, a daughter of the
late Joseph R. Jr. and Bessie Mae Greer Shipley. Vierma was raised in
South Connellsville and also lived in Brockway, Pa., and Connellsville.
She was a homemaker and excelled in handiwork hobbies. She also was an
avid reader and a family historian. As a young woman, she worked at
Hagen's Dairy Bar, a Connellsville greenhouse and the Joseph Bennet Pants
Factory. She was a faithful and lifelong member of the Albright United
Methodist Church in South Connellsville. In addition to her parents, she
was predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years, Robert Earl Bloom, in
1971, and 2 brothers, Delford "Pete" Shipley and Kenzie McClintock, and an
infant sister, Iva Dean Shipley. Survived by a sister, Edythe DeBolt of
Norwalk, Calif., and 3 brothers: Joseph R. Shipley Jr. of South
Connellsville, Roy A. Shipley and his wife Jean of South Connellsville, and
Don Shipley and his wife Helen, also of South Connellsville, and many nieces
and nephews. Friends will be received from 1-3 and 6-9 today in the Brooks
Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where a funeral service
will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Watson
officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge
Memorial Park, Pennsville.
