Funeral was held Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Newton with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Newton.
A native of Kirbyville, Texas, she lived in Newton 53 years.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Syler of Newton, son, Dr. J.M. Syler, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, daughter, Sue Syler Rathburn of Orange, Texas, brothers, William Stewart of Austin, Texas and Robert Stewart of Kirbyville and two grandchildren.
