GEORGE BARTLETT EXPIRES AT HOME
Superintendent and Wool Buyer of Seymour Woolen Mills Died With Heart Disease

FUNERAL RITES SATURDAY
Local Man Had Been Prominent Wool Judge, Active in Fraternal, Church Work

George T. Bartlett, age seventy-one, an employe(sic) of the Seymour Woolen Mills for more than half a century and its superintendent and wool buyer for the past twenty-three years, died at his home, 420 West Fourth Street, at 1:35 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Death followed an illness of two weeks' duration with heart disease. His condition had been critical for several days.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Voss Mortuary here with Dr. A. A. Cohn, pastor of the First Baptist Church, in charge. Burial in Riverview Cemtery.

Friends may call at the Voss Mortuary at anytime.

Mr. Bartlett had returned only a short time before his last illness from Chicago where he had been the only wool judge at the recent International Livestock Exposition. He was known as an authority on wool and for the past fourteen years had been a wool judge at the Indiana State Fair, a department which he had aided in organizing fourteen years ago.

Mr. Bartlett had been employed by the Seymour Woolen Mills since 1889 and was made superintendent in 1918, succeding the late B. F. Schneck, a post in which he served efficently.

Born in Seymour on July 11, 1871, the son of L. W. and Harriett A. Jacobs Bartlett, both deceased, Mr. Bartlett had spent his entire life in this county. He was married on November 4, 1890, in Seymour, to Martha Yount, who survives.

Active in fraternal orders, Mr. Bartlett was a Lieutenant-Colonel of the Fourth Regiment of the Uniform Rank, Knights of Pythias, and had served as head of Success Company No. 76, Uniform Rank, of this city, in addition ot having twice gone through all the chairs and served as Chancellor-Commander of Hermion Lodge No. 44, Knights of Pythias. He was a charter member of the local Improved Order of Red Men and was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Mr. Bartlett had been active in affairs of the First Baptist Church, of which he was a member, and had served as a trustee of the church for a number of years, resigning because of failing health. He was a member of the board of directors of the Riverview Cemetery Association, a post which he had held for a number of years.

Besides the widow, he is survived by one son, Howard T. Bartlett, of Greenwood, Mississippi; a grandaughter, Barbara Martha Bartlett, of Greenwood; a brother, J. H. Bartlett, of Seymour, and a sister, Mrs. Halleck EuDaly, also of Seymour.

Ships Fine Chickens

George T. Bartlett shipped some extra fine Buff Plymouth Rocks today to J. C. Clipp of Satillo, IN. Mr. Clipp is the proprietor of the Golden Plume Poultry Farm of that place and is a prominent breeder of prize winners and is State Vice President of the American Buff Plymouth Rock Club.

Bartlett Is Elected Head Of Uniform Rank

George T. Bartlett was elected captain of the Uniform Rank of the Kinghts of Pythias lodge at the annual meeting for the election of officers held at the club rooms last night.

Ed Aufderheide was elected first lieutenant; Walter Himler, second lieutenant; August Kiel, recorder, and Charles F. Bush, treasurer.

Plans were made for the installation services which will be held some time in February.

Bartlett Is Elected Head Of Uniform Rank
