Age 87, lost her battle with Alzheimer's and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2012. She was the wife of the late Richard K. Lamberson, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage.
Irene resided in Gwinhurst, Wilmington for over 40 years, before moving to Forwood Manor 5 years ago with her husband.
She was raised in Brockway, PA with her 12 brothers and sisters. She met her husband at a church picnic on a playground see-saw and fell in love. Irene enjoyed spending her days raising her 9 children, cooking, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and worshipping the Lord. Irene was a positive force in the lives that she touched-both family and friends alike. She was always eager to lend a helping hand and would always have kind and uplifting words for anyone who needed them. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by children, Richard I. Lamberson, Diane Ingman (Charlie), Danny Lamberson, Denise Tyler (J), Becky Trump (Jeff), Laurie Stella (John), and Amy Lamberson; 18 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her 2 daughters, Debbie and Dawn.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6-8 pm at BRANDYWINE VALLEY FUNERAL CARE, BEESON CHAPEL, 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. Another visitation will be held the following morning from 9:30-10:00 am at Holly Oak United Methodist Church, 1511 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. Her funeral service will follow at the church at 10 am. Interment will be held in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, P.O. Box, 352, Wilmington, DE 19899.
