Although her father m. as his 2nd wife America Thurman at Boone County, AR of record on Mar. 5, 1874, or short of one year after Amanda was born, it is apparent that for a period of time Amanda Jane Atkinson's parents lived as common law husband and wife. In the will of James S. Atkinson dated May 4, 1901 in the Creek Indian Territory:
• First: it is my will that each of the following named children, or their heirs, (and daughters) by my first wife be given the sum of One Dollar ($1) each, viz…; and that the following named children, or their heirs, and assigns, by my present wife [America (Thurman) Atkinson] be also given the sum of One Dollar ($1) each, viz. Nancy Ann Morrison, and Manda Campbell.
In circa 1893, Amanda m. 1) Edward Ross Campbell, youngest known child of Newton J. Campbell and Rebecca Martha Keith, b. May 14, 1873 at either Burnett or Mills County, TX. Edward d. Oct. 15, 1900 and is interred at Wetumka when that town was part of the Creek Indian Territory, now Hughes County, OK. They had the two children outlined in their father's memorial.
In circa 1904 likely at Wetumka then in the Creek Indian Territory, Amanda m. as his 3rd wife, Daniel Cummings Reed, s. of David Reed and Elizabeth Messersmith, b. Sept. 23, 1854 at Miller County, MO. He d. Feb. 5, 1917 at Wetumka, OK. They had the following four children:
• iii. Rufus Ward Reed, b. Mar. 12, 1905 at Holdenville, Creek Indian Territory (now Hughes County, OK), d. Jan. 11, 1997 at Pampa, TX (obit.); m. 1926 at Wetumka, OK, Ethel Milum (q.v.), dau. of Joseph and Bessie Milum, b. Nov. 20, 1907 at Wetumka, OK. She d. Oct. 13, 1986 at Pampa, TX.
• iv. Galena Perchie Reed, b. Sept. 14, 1907 at Wetumka, OK.
• v. Irene Margaret Reed, a twin, b. Dec. 22, 1915 at Wetumka, OK where she d. Mar. 3, 2008; m. 1) Nov. 14, 1934 at Wetumka, Walter Baxter Chandler, m. 2) Bryant Jesse.
