Marjorie was born April 26, 1925 in Mingo, Iowa, to Edd Orville Signs and Estella Marjorie Klopping Signs. She graduated from Mingo Consolidated High School in 1941 and from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1943 with a teaching certificate. Her sorority was Phi Sigma Phi. She taught second grade at Lincoln School until she was married on August 11, 1946 to Bill W. Schlotfeldt in Baxter, Iowa, after which she substituted in elementary school.
She and Bill resided in Newton, Iowa until April 1957 when they moved to Houston, Texas. They lived in the Willow Meadows subdivision from 1957 to 1993 when they moved to Bayou Vista, Texas. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Newton, Iowa. Upon their arrival in Houston, she and Bill became members of Salem Lutheran Church where she was actively involved in choir, LCW, and teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In 1993 she and Bill became members of Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church. Marjorie was a member of the Rotary Anns and a Girl Scout Co-Leader. She played a supportive role in her husband's civic affiliations including the Houston Farm & Ranch Club and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and she managed their many apartments, duplexes and other rental properties.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Deborah Sue Jackson & husband Gareth "Tug" of Long Beach, California, and Judith Ann Sample & husband Don of Caracas, Venezuela; granddaughter Jennifer Ann Scruggs of Houston, Texas; brother Dale Signs & wife Lavine of Estherville, Iowa; sister-in-law Pat Koppin & husband Pete of Newton, Iowa; and 2 cousins Brad McMain & wife Betty of Houston, Texas and David McMain & wife Mercia of Montgomery, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Doug Grumbles, Angelo Tolentino, David McMain, Charley Di Bella, Jimmy Scruggs and Kevin Jackson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mimi and Tom Dompier, Vikki and Wayne Carpenter, Fran and Jim Albright, Oma Galloway, Brad McMain, Kelvin McMain, Joan Di Bella and Edwina Donald.
