David "Blackie" Crawford, Sr., 87, 623 S. Fourth, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1993, at his home. Mr. Crawford was born May 17, 1906 at Oakdale, Neb., and had lived most of his life in Salina.

He worked as a plasterer for more than 50 years. He drove a taxi cab and served in the U.S. Marines. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and a lifetime member of the Plasterer and Cement Finisher's Labor Union.

His first wife, Leota M., died in 1968, and a daughter, Colleen Weeks, died in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; two sons, David "Sonny" "Jr. of York, Neb., and Clarence "Jumbo" of Hutchinson; a daughter, Shirley Shrole of Salina; a stepson, Harold McCall of California; two stepdaughters, Mary Lerret of Salina and Ramona Robertson of California; nine granchildren; 27 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 18 step great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ryan Mortuary, the Rev. Rick Kloos officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, 67401.
