88-year-old McLeansboro resident, Dale F. Savage died at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 at his home. A veteran of WW II, he served in the Battles of the Rhineland , Northern France, Ardennes and Central Europe and earned four Bronze Battle Stars.

On May 18, 1946, he united in marriage with Jean Clark, who survives, and they were blessed with 65 years of marriage.


Survivors include a son, Terry Dale Savage of McLeansboro; a daughter, Connie Jo Allen of Lenoir City, TN; two brothers, Dean Savage of Belle Rive and Owen Savage of Rockford, IL.

Services for Dale F. Savage will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at the Dahlgren Baptist Church with burial in the IOOF Cemetery at Dahlgren with military rites performed by the American Legion Post 106.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 Thursday evening, Feb. 23 at the Dahlgren Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Dahlgren Baptist Church and will be accepted at the church or the Gholson Funeral Home, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
