Doris Lorraine Compton was the second child of Faye Neil Compton and Lillian Maude Vandervort, who were married in their mid twenties at Glen Ellyn, DuPage Co., Illinois, a few miles to the west of Chicago.

In 1918, a year after their marriage, the young Compton couple had their first son, Faye Neil Compton, Jr., and then their daughter Doris in 1919. By the 1920 census the young Compton family was living in the city of Chicago.

By the 1930 census the Compton family had moved west to southern Calfornia, where they settled in the city of Los Angeles, with their thrid newborn child, another son.

At some point, Lillian and Faye Neil Compton Sr. settled five miles north of the city, here in the Glendale area.

In 1941, Doris Compton's 23-year old brother Faye Neil Compton Jr. married Elizabeth Lockwood 'Betty' Lee, and that young couple eventually settled 15 miles to the south, in the hills of Rancho Palos Verdes, on the southern peninsula coast near the harbor.

In 1968, Doris' father Faye Neil Sr. died, at age 78, and was buried here at Forest Lawn. Doris lost her mother Lillian only a few months later, a few weeks shy of her 74th birthday. Lillian was then buried here together with her husband.

Doris Compton eventually married a divorced New Yorker, Roy Laverne Evens, and the Evens couple settled 40 miles north in the Lancaster area of the Antelope Valley.

Roy died in 1987, at age 73, and was buried here at Forest Lawn, where Doris' Compton parents and grandmother were also buried, a generation earlier.

Doris died eight years later, at age 75, and was buried here in the shared plot alongside Roy.
