Ardella was born in Wolverton, Minn. and grew up in eastern North Dakota. The 11th of 12 children born to Norwegian immigrants, John and Anna Beck Fauskin, she attended Mayville State Teacher's College. She taught in one-room schools before moving west when WWII started. She met her sailor, Fred Couch, in California and followed him to Canby after the war. They married and raised five children in Garden Home, Lynn (Laura), Doug (Lis), Becky (Jim), Mike (Kathy) and Eric (Theresa). Fred passed in 1971. Ardella worked at PSU until she retired to begin an active volunteer career expressing her variety of interests. A proud Viking, Ardella belonged to Sons of Norway and visited cousins in Norway among other travels. In addition to her children, Ardella is survived by five grandchildren and two beautiful great-granddaughters. Her last years were spent in the loving care of Harmony Care Home among her newest friends. A memorial service will be held at Hillsdale Community Church March 14 at 2 p.m. Contributions may be made to Hillsdale Church or Sons of Norway, Grieg Lodge 15.
