Dorothy graduated from the University of Utah and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She married Gerald (Jerry) O' Brien on February 3, 1960 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Dorothy touched many lives through her thirty-five years of teaching in the Davis County schools. She was very musically talented and loved sharing her talents for the enjoyment of others. She sang in the Allegro Chorus. She was also a very accomplished dancer, dancing at the University of Utah and later directing and choreographing for stake and community musical theater.
Dorothy spent countless hours knitting and donating hats for many charities including Native Americans, orphanages, and Utah Youth Village.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, enjoying many years of service including callings as chorister and ward and temple organist. She passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brother Sonny. She is survived by her husband Jerry, and children Todd O'Brien, Jill (Rob) Christensen, and John O'Brien, her brother Roger Bown, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 in the Bountiful Twenty-Eighth Ward Chapel, 2285 South 200 West, Bountiful. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, and Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
Interment at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
