Robert W. Joseph, age 80, of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Rush Hospital in Chicago.
He was born April 26, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Thomas Leonard and Ruth (Walters) Joseph.
Prior to 31 years of service as a Metallurgical Engineer at Inland Steel, he also achieved the rank of Captain in the United States Army. Bob was a member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso, enjoyed gardening, helping others and singing in the Masters of Harmony Barbershop Chorus.
He was married June 19, 1954 to Genevieve (Kulenkamp) Joseph who survives along with daughter, Carol Joseph, son, William Joseph, grandchildren, Nicholas (Jillian) Smolios and Elisabeth (Phillip) Siapkaris, great grandchildren, Michael, Maxwell and Mark Smolios, Alexander and soon to be born Thalia Genevieve Siapkaris.
Bob was preceded in death by son, Mark Robert Joseph and brother, Thomas Leonard Joseph II.
Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2012 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church at 1901 Evans St., Valparaiso with funeral services to follow with Pastor Richard Greene officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to "Kids Alive International".
