Local Relatives Attend George, Grunenwald Rites.
Mrs. John Bauer, Miss Dorothy Bauer, Miss Gertrude Grunenwald, Herman C. Grunenwald, of Fremont, accompanied by Mrs. William Smith of Bay Village and Mrs. Ernest Bingman of Cleveland left Tuesday morning for Buffalo, N. Y., to attend funeral services for George Grunenwald, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Grunenwald. The father is a former Fremonter.
The youth, 23, was fatally injured Sunday at 5 p. m. when he received fatal injuries as his home-made racer was wrecked in an automobile race on the Jamestown speedway.
His father, a brother and his sister, Katherine saw the tragic accident and the sister fainted. His mother, Mrs. Henrietta Mayer Grunenwald, had, not attended.
His racing auto crashed through a fence as It went into a skid.Wrenching it out of the spin, the youth apparently was unable to regain control and smashed into the fence, tearing six posts out.
A mechanic at the Curtiss Aeroplane Co. in Buffalo, the youth had participated in four races previously.
