Wesley was born in Alamance County, N.C. to Dorothy Lee Mahaley and Larry William Apple. He graduated from Rockingham County High School and attended Elon College. He worked with PayTel in Greensboro, NC for 19 years before starting his own I.T. business called Alpine Data. He was a member of Word of Life Family Church in Burlington, where he was the I.T. Director. Wesley loved the outdoors, hunting, photography and his dog, "Happy"
