CONWAY - Hayward Ammons Sr., 63, of 15th Avenue, died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Conway Hospital after an illness.
He was born in Marion County, a son of the late Russell L. Ammons Sr. and Blanche McDaniels Ammons.
He was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church and was owner and operator of Horry Printers, which was established in 1964. He was former shop foreman for Mullins Enterprise, Field & Herald and The Sun News.
Mr. Ammons was a member of Myrtle Beach Masonic Lodge No. 353 AFM; Omar Temple of the Shrine in Mount Pleasant; Omar Peddler; and past president of Waccamaw Shrine Club of Conway, where he also served as secretary since 1998.
He was an officer and member of Myrtle Beach Moose Lodge No. 1959, a member and secretary of District 4 Legionnaires and a former officer of Conway Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife, Myrnia Strickland Ammons of Conway; two sons, Hayward ''Woody'' Ammons Jr. and Stanley Dale Ammons, both of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Pamela Kim A. Lovin of Conway; a brother, Russell L. Ammons Jr. of Mullins; two sisters, Dorothy Connelly of Mount Pleasant and Margaret Hayes of Nichols; and a granddaughter, Haley Alexandra Ammons of Myrtle Beach.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment with Masonic rites will be in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
