PEQUOT LAKES — Kenneth Evenson, age 62, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born March 26, 1949, in Brainerd the son of Lester and June (Field) Evenson.
Kenneth grew up and graduated high school in Pequot Lakes. On Aug. 17, 1968, he married Joanne "Sam" Stangel at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. The couple moved to Rudd Iowa where Kenneth worked in trucking. They moved back to Pequot Lakes in 1987 where he worked with the phone company and also drove school bus.
He enjoyed hunting, sporting events and his family.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joanne; and his son, Greg, of Pequot Lakes; brothers, Larry (Lisa), of Jenkins, and Brian (Ali), of Breezy Point; sisters, Barb Bengtson of Pequot Lakes, Debbie (Jim) Stetler, of Pequot Lakes, Cindy (Jim) Syrdal, of St. Francis, Minn., and Diane (Dale) Sondrol, of Wahpeton, N.D.; and by his grandchildren, Marcus and Bridgette Evenson of Pequot Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dick.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be on Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kline Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes and will continue on Sunday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery, Pequot Lakes.
