Grace L. Johnson, 85, beloved wife of 53 years of the late Iver Johnson, of Shepard Avenue, Hamden, passed away December 15, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born in Melrose, MA, November 15, 1926, and grew up in Malden, MA, a daughter of the late Harry and Flora Lundeen. As a young woman, she moved to New Haven to become the secretary at Bethesda Lutheran Church. While living in New Haven she met and married Iver in May of 1953.
After raising her two children, Mrs. Johnson was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Yale University for many years. She attended Bethesda Lutheran Church in New Haven and was very involved with the Doubles and Church Women's Clubs. She sang with the Scandinavian Women's Chorus of CT and also was a member of the Diana Birger Jarl Lodge of the VASA Order of America.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice Baglioni and her husband Massimo Baglioni of North Haven, a son, Robert Iver Johnson and his wife Gina Johnson of New Haven, and two grandchildren, Erika and Alessandro Baglioni. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lundeen. Family and friends are invited to go directly to Bethesda Lutheran Church on Monday morning at 10:00 for a funeral service and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in Beaverdale Memorial Park. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
