Mrs. Lena Esther Engler, 76, of 514 Colorado Avenue, LaJunta, died early Monday in a local hospital. Mrs. Engler had been ill for some time and in the hospital about a week.
Funeral services will be held at Peacock-Green Memorial Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Engler was born in Corning, Iowa, May 4, 1886. She was married in Imperial, Neb. in 1903 to Otis Eugene Engler. The couple came to LaJunta in September 1917 and homesteaded southwest of here. Mr. Engler died Feb. 22, 1950.
Mrs. Engler is survived by two sons, Edward of Route 1, LaJunta, and Ernie of Belen, N.M. She also leaves one brother, Frank Grover of Fairbury, Neb.; two sisters, /mable Rhoades of El Cajon, Calif., and Mrs. Hattie Critchfield of Olney Springs; 6 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.
She was a member of the Christian Church, the Senior Citizens and Fairview Stitch and Chatter Club.
