Alexander Dallas Rowlett was born to John and Amy Elizabeth Dallas Rowlett, the 9th of 11 children. His mother named him for her father, Alexander James Dallas, who homesteaded at Darrs Creek, and who established the Dallas Cemetery by donating two acres of his homestead to the cemetery. (Alexander James Dallas was my g.g.grandfather; and my own father specified that 'a portion of his ashes be established' at the Dallas Cemetery, next to Alexander James Dallas.) Amy and her husband are buried at that Dallas Cemetery in Bell County, TX.

Alexander Dallas Rowlett was nicknamed "Red" by his parents, and that nick name stuck throughout his life.
