Annie Fred Hines Wright, 93, of Blacksburg, died Friday, February 17, 2012, at her home. She was born in Mt. Airy, N.C., March 25, 1918, to the late Robert Earl and Victoria Wolfe Hines. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Logan Wright; brothers, Bill Hines, and Gilmer Hines, and her sister, Vickie Burton.
She was a member and president of many organizations. She was also honored to be named the Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who of South and Southwest, and the Dictionary of International Biography. Mrs. Wright loved to entertain guests at the River House in McCoy.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Sue Wright, Blacksburg, Shirley Ann Wright Lester and her husband, Pat, Chesapeake; a grandson, Nicholas Lester; great-grandson, Dorian Lester; sister, Clara Jane Billing, Blacksburg. Annie Fred wishes to thank Vickie and Ron Green who were always there when she needed them.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rho Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Education Scholarship Fund, c/o Ina Dunford, Treasurer, 1014 Oak Pointe Ct., Blacksburg, VA 24060; or the Humane Society of Montgomery County, P.O. Box 287 Blacksburg, VA 24063-0287.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
