Julia Theresa Adamowicz, 82, of 470 Hobart St., Southington, died Tuesday (February 18, 2003) at home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Edward W. Adamowicz for 55 years. Born in Cromwell on Jan. 4, 1921, Julia was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Suszy) Garboski. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Allied Control Co. in Plantsville. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Immaculata Women's Club and The Rosary Society. Julia was an avid baker and made many people happy with her delicious creations, especially her blueberry and Strawberry-Rhubarb pies. She was a member of the Southington YMCA and an honored member of the YMCA 80 plus Club. In addition to her husband she is survived by her loving children, Susan M. Adamowicz of Southington, Edward F. Adamowicz of Rockvale, TN and James E. Adamowicz and his wife Janet of Plantsville, 5 cherished grandchildren, Scott, Kevin and Julia of Rockvale, TN, and Robin and Daniel of Plantsville. Also a brother George Garboski of Middletown, 2 sisters Theresa Dolecki of Southington, and Caroline Piantek of Rockfall, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brother Edward, Stephen and Joseph Garboski. The Funeral will be held on Friday at 8:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to Immaculate Conception Church at 9 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. The family would like to express there appreciation to Julia's care giver Stanistawa Jaworska. Her special and loving care did not go unnoticed.
