Silas Rice and Master Lester Hitchcock went to Oswegatchie last Sunday. On arriving at the home of his son-in-law, Charles Aikens, Mr. Rice was taken with a paralytic stroke and fell by the horses as he was unhitching.
Mr. Murray, of Trout Lake, was summoned, but Mr. Rice had another shock at 5 o'clock p. m. and died Monday night. The funeral was held Wednesday, the 12th, and he was buried in Fine. Mr. Rice was formerly an old resident of Edwards and was a much respected and kindly old gentle man. He was aged 62 years and leaves a wife and five children to mourn his loss.
